AMAC Armoured Riot Control Water Cannon. Only one in UK

This AMAC Riot Control Vehicle is the only one in the UK and was featured in the Summer 2009 edition of Windscreen military vehicle magazine.

It is now fully operational and is designed to carry 20 troops in full riot gear and is complete with an internal armoury and toilet. It is CS gas proof and has air conditioning and front and rear night vision cameras.

Specific features include:-

Four 4 pot replica smoke/grenade launchers, one on each corner of the roof.

20 gun ports (10 each side) with bullet proof glass viewing windows.

Telescopic roof-mounted "Stem-Lite" which emits either a blinding floodlight, to repel attackers or a long range pencil beam, for observation.

Electrified external armour panels which are activated from inside the vehicle and emit a high voltage pulsating electric discharge to both sides of the vehicle and the front and side window grilles. The intensity and pulse frequency are regulated from a control panel on the right hand side of the cab (see photo).

The vehicle has ballistic protection against fragmentation devices and up to .357 Magnum AP, .44 Magnum SISP, 9mm AP, 5.56 Armalite, AK47 rifle, 7.62mm NATO rifle and equivalent, with no penetration.

The floor is made from high density glass reinforced plastics and is fragmentation/explosive resistant.

The tyres are bullet resistant foam filled.

The chassis is a Model M1120 4 wheel drive tubo-charged diesel engine with a 156 inch wheelbase.

Hydraulically operated anti-barricade "sweeper" on front of cab.

4 protected roof-mounted flashing lights.

High Powered anti-personnel water cannon with marker dye injection which is controlled by a joy-stick by the front passenger/co-driver.

Under-vehicle fire extinguisher system which can deploy either water, foam or CO2.

External fire drench system.

Multi-tone siren and public address system.

Internal TV/video monitoring and recording system.

Dual rear doors with hydraulic retracting steps.

3 engines with the prime mover being a Bedford M1120 turbo-charged diesel.

The water pump is driven by a Coventry Climax petrol engine and the air conditioning is driven by a Petter Diesel.

Max speed is 56 mph.

Selectable 4 wheel drive, high and low range providing 10 forward and 2 reverse gears.

Vehicle length is 24ft 2inches. (7.37m). Width is 8ft 3inches (2.5m). Height is 11ft 3 inches (3.96m).

Weight is approx.8,820kg, unladen and 11,700kg laden (i.e. with the water tank full and 20 troops etc.

Only covered 2,940 miles from new.
