                                     VALE CRUCIS ABBEY WALES

LISTED ARTIST  

Oil on canvas . Huge image size 98cm by 61cm. Gold ornate frame   108cm by 71cm. Original frame compliments painting. Both in excellent condition. Canvas has been relined in antiquity and has been recently cleaned.

A top class Victorian oil with excellent provenance. Stunning  - expertly painted   Top quality - a gallery or exhibition piece.Very rare large work. Almost certainly an exhibited work.

Stunning detail.  A delightful oil.  A panoramic view of Vale Crucis Abbey Wales. There appears to nothing this artist has missed out - very detailed - a couple take a county walk along the river path - a man is fishing - cattle and sheep - the abbey and mountains in the distance.  This Welsh mountain range and landcaspe is sublimely captured. Beautiful colour and detail.

BIOGRAPHY

ALFRED VICKERS -  1786-1868 -  Panscape painter.  a self taught artist whose light and sparking style has been compared to Boudin.  Exhibited at the Royal  Academy1831-1868  the British Institute 125 works and Suffolk Street.  Painetd English views  - especially river scenes in a rapid sketchy style using a range of pale greens which is very didtinctive.  Works by him are in Glasgow Nottongham and Sheffield Art Galleries.
