Hi I recently bought this excellent Alfa Romeo 166 off Ebay and despite me loving the car to bits I have just found out I am about to be made redundant which has come at a really bad time, and therefore I no longer can afford to have this car.  When I bought it, it had damage to both passenger side doors due to it being caught by someone in a Supermarket car park, this damage remains as I have not had time to sort it yet, did plan to have this done next week, but my letter of impending redundancy makes it about last on the list of things I need to worry about right now.  There was a seller on ebay selling 2 immaculate doors for £100 in the same colour so really it would take next to no time to sort that job.  The other concern was the no MOT on the car, so straight after getting her home, I took her to the garage for an MOT.  She failed on:-

Brake pads all round

Handbrake

Broken front N/S Spring

CV Boot O/S split.

I had new pads all round put in at a cost of £135 (the 2 fronts are Brembo calipers so that cost extra), the handbrake was corrected at the same time so that's them done.  The CV boot you could get and fit very easily.  The chewy job was the spring.  Priced one up from Alfa and it is £60 + VAT and that's it the car would be totally ready for it's MOT.  I have used the previous sellers description of the car which fair play to him was just about spot on in it's accuracy, she is a fantastic drive, superbly comfortable, assured handling (even with a broken spring) and the tune from the engine is something else but I simply now cannot afford to run her now I'm loosing my job and I'm gutted on both fronts but what can I do about it?  I drove the car from York to Redcar and she was a pleasure to drive and once the CV Boot and Spring are done as stated that's the MOT sorted, then it's just a case of 2 doors and you have a car that not only looks the dogs but will still be a very very cheap high end luxery motor.  Did a price up on value and for this model with 106.000 on the clock you should be paying £2400, I paid no where near that and neither will you.  Service History up to 90.000kms when the cam belt was done, everything works that should work, 90% of the work for the MOT done with the car ready to pass once 2 things are done.  See previous sellers description below.

HERE WE HAVE MY ALFA 166 2.5 V6, LOVELY CAR I RECENTLY GOT THIS OFF A FRIEND AS HE NEEDED RID AFTER GETTING A COMPANY CAR.  I DO LOVE THIS CAR FANTASTIC DRIVE BUT IT HAS TO GO AS IT IS JUST TOO EXPENSIVE TO RUN TO WORK AS I DRIVE 100 MILES A DAY.

THAT SAID THIS IS A ECONOMICAL CAR I WAS GETTING 30 MPG ON THE MOTORWAY! SO YOU GET THE ECONOMY AND GRUNT OF THE V6!

ALSO IT HAS RECENT DAMAGE AFTER SOME BRIGHT SPARK WENT ACROSS THE SIDE OF IT AT A LOCAL SUPERMARKET, I WAS IN THE STORE AT THE TIME!  I JUST DON'T HAVE TIME TO REPAIR IT OR MOT IT AS I AM NOW RUNNING ANOTHER CAR.

I AM SURE YOU WILL GRAB A BARGAIN, I THINK IT WILL NEED 2 NEW DOORS AND IF YOU ARE HANDY COULD EASILY FIT, I HAVE SEEN THEM ON HERE FOR ABOUT £100 THE PAIR!

DRIVES VERY WELL AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WHILE I WAS RUNNING IT ALL TYRES LOOK OK.

HAS 6 MONTHS TAX BUT MOT RAN OUT THE OTHER WEEK.

I REALLY THINK THIS IS A GREAT CAR AND DISPITE THE DAMAGE TO SIDE IN FANTASTIC CONDITION NO OTHER DENTS OR KNOCKS, STICK A COUPLE OF DOORS ON AND YOUVE GOT A HELL OF A LOT OF CAR FOR YOUR MONEY + THAT ALFA V6 WHICH SOUNDS FANTASTIC!

As stated this description was just about spot on, the car runs superbly well no issues with the engine at all (always a good thing) just the doors and 2 mentioned niggles with the spring and CV Boot to do. 

Any further info you require please feel free to ask.  I would of course like to recoup the outlay I have spent on the car ie the purchase price and price for the brakes but will listen to offers for the car given my current plight.  I have started this auction less than what I actually paid for it with a BIN of slightly less than I have spent in total, can't be fairer than that.  If I wasn't about to become another statistic this car would remain with me for a good period of time I love the way it feels and drives and I am very sad to conceed defeat and have to sell.  Thanks for looking.
