AL JAFFEE (b. 1921) joined MAD's "usual gang of idiots" in 1955. In 1964, he created the MAD Fold-In which has become a staple feature for virtually every issue since. He is most famous for the biting humor found in his "Snappy Answers to Stupid Questions" feature, which have been compiled into several successful paperback books. He began his career in comics in 1940 doing mainly teen humor features for Timely. He continues to do work in advertising and illustrate children's books.

This lot consists of one piece of original art from the feature entitled, "A MAD Guide to How Simple Things Work" from MAD #255 cover dated 1985 (used for the titled of the feature) and one piece of production/paste-up art. The original art has an image area of approximately 15.5" x 10" and is in very good condition. The elements of the artwork have been drawn on separate sheets and pasted to a common backing board; the rings of the binder are xeroxes.

The bottom image shows how the artwork was incorporated into the finished page; only the artwork shown in the top scan is offered in this lot.
