Got back to full range audio and non of that MP3 rubbish with so much compression, back to full range human hearing with all those frequencies lost due to digital compression. iPod/iTunes does have as lot to answer for as does CD to a point but analogue is so much more harmonic to the ears and soul. Want to transfer Joe Jackson's Body & Soul I think recorded in 1985 which is stunning onto the Akai and hear it, beautiful analogue recording on Neumann microphones recorded analogue inside an old church and the recording is amazing plus some great Decca classical recording's I have as well. Of course the GX-747 has the famous GLASS & X'TAL FERRITE HEAD, on which AKAI had given a lifelong warranty. This beautiful tape recorder originates from first hand. It was handled very carefully and is in excellent condition nearly without marks. In the special workshop for tape recorders (since 1980) was made the thorough inspection, full maintenance of all mechanical and electronic features and new calibration in terms of maxell tape on the basis of the original AKAI instructions. Afterwards was confirmed that everything works perfect (with certificate).* * *

If you recording from a CD on a good quality tape you can't hear a difference between source and tape mode. The quality of the AKAI heads and the recording and play abilities is famous. I have taken a little time to test the recorder before sending you this email, so I can now tell you that everything is in good order and working perfectly.
