___________________________________ DESCRIPTION This is an Authentic Hand Made Papyrus (Reed Fibres) Craft from Uganda (Eastern Africa). These crafts take 3 - 4 days to complete, as they are completely woven by hand. The process of making these crafts is very time and effort consuming, as the reeds must first be dried then woven together strand by strand. The detail of these crafts is outstanding, and can only be fully appreciated in real life.
These Basket / Bowls are ideal for fruit, bread or simply for display purposes. Edirisa Crafts are a selection of crafts made by Ugandan people, where extreme poverty is very common. This is their chance to earn something right from their village, where income opportunities are otherwise scarce. Ediris's work with these local communities is based on the principles of 'Fair Trade'. We determine the prices together with the craft makers, and pay them as soon as they deliver their products. Edirisa Crafts builds a long term relationship with these craft makers, and help them to develope more attractive crafts.
