This brand new adapter will allow you to use M42 mount lenses and macro accessories on Canon EOS cameras.

The adapter allows focusing to infinity.
The adapter depresses the mechanical AF switch found on some older film cameras and is therefore suitable for use with all film and digital EOS models

37mm diameter inside flange depresses the aperture pin found on most M42 lenses permitting manual aperture setting. (Adapters without this flange only allow lens use at maximum aperture).

The built in "Confirm" chip tells your camera that the lens is in manual mode, allowing the "in-focus" lights to operate correctly in the viewfinder. You need to set the aperture by hand however you can set your camera to Aperture Priority (Av) mode to use the camera's automatic exposure facility. The chip allows all metering modes supported by your camera.

The AF Confirm chip is vulnerable to sharp blows and static discharge so you should always attach the lens cap when not in use.

The flanged adapter is unsuitable for lenses with a diaphragm coupling lever (in addition to the pin) such as the SMC Takumar. If you have this very rare problem we can supply an adapter without the flange for the same price. Please contact me.

Lenses that will not work with full format film and digital cameras (e.g. 1d and 5d): Before mounting any lens to full format film or digital cameras you should check that no part of the lens protrudes behind the adapter bayonet else it may contact the camera reflex mirror causing lock up and possibly damage.
Please check panoramaplanet . If your lens is not listed there try a Google search on it.
All lenses should be okay to use with 22mm imaging chip Canon cameras (10d through to 450d) owing to the smaller reflex mirror size.

If you find M42 mount lenses which will not mount safely on the EOS adapters, let me know and I will add to this description.

Not suitable for T mount accessories (telescopes etc.) which have a different thread pitch. Please see my other items for a T2 mount adapter.

Old mechanical lenses generally have optics every bit as good as their modern equivalents so grab a bargain on eBay then get one of my adapters to use it on your Canon EF mount camera. Manually set the lens aperture as required. Use large apertures for low light or when you want a defocussed background e.g. for a portrait shot. Use small apertures in bright light or if you want a longer exposure for instance to blur an aircraft propeller or the background of a fast moving racing car. Use the camera's Av mode for automatic exposure. You will need to set focus by hand. This takes a little practice as the modern viewfinders are not so easy to judge as the old split focus type. Using smaller apertures considerably increases your margin for error. For reliable pin-sharp focus select an AF Confirm adapter which will activate the focus lights in your viewfinder.
