Brand new and in manufacturers packaging This is a good quality clip on pickup which can be used on many instruments.It is advertised for use on string instruments, but its small size and spring loaded clip make it ideal for attaching to the bell of many wind instruments also. The pickup has low feedback and flat frequency response. It is terminated in a standard quarter inch jack plug for attaching to any amplifier or effects unit. The pickup is attached to bottom of the sound hole on a guitar (and will work on both steel and nylon string guitars). For a violin the pickup is attached to the bridge. For a mandolin the pickup can be attached in the lower F hole. "bnlrule" sent me the following feedback I was quite pleased with it, easily the cheapest pick-up I have come across. I bought it for my nylon-strung spanish/classical guitar, a pretty old but lovely sounding guitar (although the instructions say to clip it to the headstock I tend to put clip it to the sound-hole, its louder and nicer sounding), and I'm plugging it into an ashdown 100w acoustic radiator 1 amp. It's ideal for what I wanted- a good, faithful reprodution of the original instrument's sound...Only negative to it is that if the wire moves at all you get the creaky sound being picked up. Not much feedback, only if you get stupidly close. I'm looking forward to trying it on some other instruments like violin or banjo. Basically its excellent value and really versatile, and the quality totally surpassed my expectations for a pick up of this price.
