This is a pretty Oak Cottage grandfather clock by Thomas Fletcher of Rotherham. The clock dates to around 1825, the slim case has a long shaped door (the lock is missing and a replacement one fitted, see photograph), and the clock has a single plinth at the base. The swan neck pediment hood with original roundels to the tops of the horns, brass capped columns each side, and the hood is finished with the set of three replacement gilded finials. The painted dial signed Thos Fletcher, Rotherham, with floral corners, and the top arch has a lakeside scene with mountains in the background, the centre of the dial also has a working calendar, and working seconds dial. The 8 day duration movement is a little dirty but in full working order, with the original pendulum with a brass bob and replacement weights, and chimes out the hours on a bell. The clock measures only 82 1/4 inches high (to the top of the finial), 20 1/4 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches deep, thanks for looking.
