The bishop is standing, holding a large crosier with cross and holding his thumb and index finger pinched together, meaning that he is teaching/preaching. His robes have typical V folds. France. Late 15th century. Dimensions (base not included): 11,5cm (4 3/5") A fine and very rare STATUE of SAINT AUGUSTINE, seated, in bishop's clothes, holding a heart. This statue was originally a support for a reliquary box. Finely cast and gilt bronze (top quality !). The Netherlands. Early 16thC. height: 5cm (2") |
