A Victorian Period Turned Serpentine Paperweight, English from the Lizard in Cornwall, circa 1900.
Measurements : Diameter 95mm. x Height 50mm.
Weight: 570 grms.
Condition: Perfect

Serpentine is a naturally occuring Sedimentary rock which forms the cliffs at the Lizard, from the mid-Victorian period local people set up water driven lathes in the valley by the cliffs turning serpentine souvenirs. The most beautiful colours were quickly worked out, dating this examples to 1900.
