Motodrome are pleased to offer this 1982 example of the ever-popular Land Rover Lightweight (Air Portable) finished in Camoflage with contrasting tilt. I’ve owned and run Lightweights for years and this has to be one of the nicest and most unmessed with examples I’ve come across. It’s a 12V example, fitted with arch extensions, matching set of Goodyear 650-16 on/offroad tyres, rear bench seats with seatbelts, towbar, correct tailgate with fitments for tools etc, inertia reel seatbelts etc. . The tilt (believed to be the original military-type) is in very good shape all round.
Speedo in kms It comes with a full MOT to October 2010, and there are a selection of bills etc in the history, including fitment of a new clutch. It’s just been recommissioned (bill available) following a period in storage. It’s full of character with an excellent external patina, and on a 30-mile test run on arrival it performed superbly Further detail: The body on this one is very good for one of these at this age. The paint is largely original I think - obviously the black etc. has been added later over the original NATO green - the army didn't paint them with an eye for detail or longevity so there are some peeling sections, especially the black distemper, but certainly it looks authentic. I'm loathe to have it repainted as I prefer it like this. . Obviously expect wavy panels and minor imperfections etc - it's still an older Landy after all that and blemishes give it character, but all I can really criticise is a tiny pinhole by the NS scuttle vent, and slightly crinkled modesty covers. . The tilt is in very good order but might benefit from a clean. . See the video below for a full appraisal of the bodywork. Starts nicely (better than it did in the video now I've got the hang of it) and drove nicely indeed while on test - didn't display any signs of overheating, misfiring, or hesitancy etc, or emit too many expensive-sounding groans, knocks etc on test - just performed very well all round. . All I can really criticise is a) the speedo isn't working, and b) the gearbox synchros (especially from 4th to 3rd) are easily defeated if rushed, but there's no jumping out of gear. Unlike most Land Rovers it didn't 'mark it's territory' when left overnight - no mean feat! Watch the video below to see it in action
