Title:

A Shorter History of Greek Art

by

Martin Robertson

Publisher:       Cambridge University Press

Edition.           Reprint 1991 (first printed 1981)

Format:           Large format Paperback

Size:                (27 by 21.5 cm approx)         No. of Pages.   240

Description:   This shorter version of 'The History of Greek Art' produced by Professor Robertson is intended for general readership. Extensively illustrated with B&W photographic illustrations throughout, it traces the history of Greek art from its emergence from the dark ages, through its supreme achievements in the classical age, to the hellenistic period. The changes in the different branches of representational art are presented as aspects of  a single historical and cultural  development, and Professor Robertson's own sympathies and expert insights provide the controlling structure.

Condition: Fair: An excellent reading copy. There is a closed tear to the bottom right hand corner of the front cover ( see photo) and a little turn up to the pages nearby.  The back cover has a similar closed tear at the top  corner, and a long corner crease. There is some underlining of the text in pencil to a few pages, otherwise the pages are clean and bright. A super book, of great interest inspite of its faults.

We will be putting about 30 ancient classical titles in our shop in the next few days. Very good for students studying the classics.

NB this is a heavy book, hence the postage.

Thank you for looking.

Please look through our Classics section

We add to our list daily.

Condition Key:

Mint: The book / jacket is to all intents and purposes like new.

Excellent: The book / jacket will have been very well looked after, but there will be some minor evidence that distinguishes the book from new.

Very good: The book / jacket will have been well looked after, but there will be some minor faults.

Good: The book or jacket will have been looked after but there will be some obvious faults.

Fair: The book / jacket will have been subject to some wear and tear, but the contents will be complete; perfectly good as reading copies.

Poor: The book / jacket will generally have been subject to excessive wear and tear and some pages, illustrations, etc may be missing.

The addition of a + indicates rather better than the rating given.
