A VERY SPECIAL BROOCH

What makes this special? - Well it's not just the silver set, eighteen lovely old cut brilliant diamonds with a total weight of approximately 6.5 carats, but also the sheer quality of the opal. Our photographs cannot do justice to the colour play of greens, purples, yellows and oranges, as well as the extensive fire.

The main body of the brooch is over 100 years old, but the opal is a later addition. To use opal was a bold decision, the safer option would probably have been an amethyst or citrine, and that is what lifts this brooch to the realms of fine jewellery.

 

Weight : 13.9 grams

Approximate Total Diamond Weight: 6.5 carat (18 diamonds)

The opal measures: 20mm x 17mm x 7mm (approx. depth)

The brooch measures 30mm x 28mm

Although fairly new to Ebay the shop was opened in 1950 here in the lovely & historic Thames side town of Richmond at the base of Richmond Hill a stones throw from the Thames and is still under the same family ownership today.
