This clock dates from 1851 (Year of the Great Exhibition ) it is an 8 Day timepiece with alarm neatly placed under the ebonised base and is pristine. The dome still retains its original protective paper around the bottom edge and is in perfect condition as is all of the clock. Although the clock looks clean and runs it will need a service,I don't think it has been touched in many years.
The white enamel dial has blued steel moon shaped hands and the minute hand has been extended ? The disc above the dial can be turned to lift and lower the pendulum. The alarm disc to the centre of the dial can be adjusted via a "click" lever conected to a cord through a hole in the ebonised base, so you don't have to lift the dome. The alarm winder is at the opposite side - to wind you just pull on the cord. The superb engraving to the y-shaped plates is very crisp, and the engraving extends to most of the brassware.
