 Offered for auction is what is obviously a super high quality A&R Cambridge PMX10 Low Output Moving Coil Cartridge.  The A & R Cambridge PMX10 Moving Coil Cartridge is based on a Goldring platform (body) with a A & R special styli and a rather fetching red body moulding.

' A& R Cambridge have taken a basic Goldring moving-coil design and rebuilt it to produce a high-performance cartridge, the PMX 10 (retail price of £109.90 in 1984) which sounded very good through their own amplifiers and Arcam loudspeakers ' (taken from a 'Gramophone' HiFi Mag article from 1984). 

Its a high performance low output moving coil cartridge, all British design and manufacture.  It has a precision diecast alloy body for absolute rigidity and a tubular aluminium cantilever with profiled grain oriented diamond stylus.  I've carefully examined the stylus tip with my 30X magnifier and it looks perfect (see my photographs of the actual cartridge for auction) and the cantilever looks straight and true.  Tracking force for this type of cartridge is within the range 1.5 - 2.0 grams (1.8 grams optimum) and cartridge weight is 9 grams.  It has standard 1/2" spaced fixing holes.  The previous owner stated that its been used for no more than 20 hrs.  1000 hrs is the expected full life.  You will need either a Moving Coil Low Output phono input on your amplifier of a Moving Coil Amplifier to bring its output up to a level suitable for your amplifier.  Measured stereo coils resistance is about 6 Ohms each which is within the normal range for this type of cartridge.  I am certain the auction winner wont be disappointed with this cartridge which by all accounts is in the top audiophile range.
