A PRISTINE ROUND SILVER COMPACT/LOCKET HALLMARKED BIRMINGHAM 1917

 IT’S IN SUPERB CONDITION 

DIMENSION; HEIGHT = 53 MM  (Including top holding rings)  WIDTH =  44 MM DEPTH = 12 MM

This rouge box or early form of powder compact is in EXCELLENT condition and must have had a cared for 92 years of existence, so far. The lid is hinged and opens. This compact has a mirror in the lid, this is held in with a silver retaining rim. The silver of this gem is totally plain and has absolutely no scratches bumps, dints or damage. All polished without any blemish to the surface. The hinge is firm and the lid closes nice and firm and securely. There is a silver ring on the top with an aperture of 4.5 mm, this allows you to wear this as a piece of jewellery on a neck chain. The top hanging ring make this piece a super 'eye catching' piece of jewellery when worn on a neck chain.  (More than likely this was probably worn on a chatelaine originally or kept in a purse).

HALLMARKED SILVER IN BIRMINGHAM IN 1917, MARKS ARE ON THE BACK OF THE COMPACT  (lion passant to denote sterling silver quality and low case  date letter  's' for Birmingham assay office for 1917) Maker 'H.C.D'.
