This particular saxophone model at this price results in the same two questions being asked constantly, very different questions, but we hope our answers below help you in your decision:
Why is the Carmichael so cheap we expect a good saxophone to be £300+? (Being asked by customers with a saxophone playing background) You're quite right, until 3 years ago our cheapest saxophone was £369 but with the advent of ebay and very cheap poor quality saxophones we found our business to the hobbyist players was disappearing and sales falling. Schools and private teachers would still pay over £300 but many new buyers who didn't know the difference between various saxophone brands were starting to buy unknown and often low quality products online. At this point many smaller music shop outfits fell by the wayside, fortunately we were lucky enough to have the buying power to change this. We buy c. 1000 instruments at once, by buying so many we negotiate better prices and cut down on shipping costs, fees etc This allows us to sell them at £179, the specification above stands testament to the fantastic quality and of course as with all our instruments a 7 day approval period is the customers prerogative.
"As local shops we only want to supply the best" Below some images of our Bangor showroom:
What makes this saxophone better than the ones selling for just over £100? (Being asked by customers new to saxophone who have often been browsing ebay)
Karacha Music Ltd is a music company with traditional local shops such as our Bangor Store pictured above, as such we only sell high quality respected brands. We offer expert advice from trained musicians, full warranty work carried out in our workshop by an Orchestral level musician and the full range of accessories. The ebay ethos of "we buy everything direct from china and can get you a saxophone for £100" is a false economy. As a large wholesaler we have been offered dozens of models from dozens of factories and refuse them all, we could offer certain saxophones on sale for £100 but there's just no point as we want our customers to learn and progress not become disenchanted after 6 months when the pads are leaking, mechanisms failing and lacquer pealing. In fact we have become so frustated with low quality items being brought to our workshop we have introduced a "minimum standard", ie we won't service just any instrument bought off ebay - so many of them are made from such low grade metals that we repair it and then the repair fails several weeks down the line because the build quality of the instrument is just not good enough.
"Our buying power lets us pass the savings on to you" Pictured below one of our warehouses receiving a monthly instrument delivery:
We honestly believe this instrument is the best quality your money can buy for under £200, we can not stress highly enough the dangers of spending much less on such a complex instrument, if on the other hand you've really got the bug and would like an even better model please do not hesitate to contact us. Some opinions offered by recent customers: " well recommended item better than described - exellent delivery time great instrument- excellent value and quality product. highly recommend - really pleased with item; infact much better than I was expecting"
If you have any questions no matter how silly you may think they are please email or call us on local rate: 0845 200 83 43, we answer questions all day everyday and we are here to help.
VAT - All prices include United Kingdom VAT at 17.5%, if you are buying for a school and are able to reclaim the vat we can provide you with a VAT receipt on request - the ex VAT price of this instrument is an amazing £152. Equally if you attend a local education authority school which takes part in the assissted instrument purchase scheme we will be happy to assist, information on how karacha can help is available here: Assissted Instrumnet Purchase Scheme
