90yrs Old Hand Carved Chinese Large Soap Stone Double Vase

Approx 13” tall x 12” wide

Hard to find piece-VERY LARGE & HEAVY -  RARE!

There are 2 vases a larger vase in the center and a smaller vase to the right.

We think this is soap stone but I don't know what other types of stones they would carve to produce this type of piece.

My mother always told us that this was given to her on her wedding day as a present. She was married in 1918.

Excellent Condition-  There is a small hole on the front of the vase lower down towards the bottom that is very small. I DO NOT KNOW HOW THAT GOT THERE BUT IT COULD POSSIBLY BE FROM WHEN IT WAS FIRST CARVED. Sometimes they go in too close to the edge WHEN CARVING AND IT IS JUST TOO THIN  or IT COULD BE A NATURAL DEFECT OR FLAWED AREA IN THE STONE. THERE IS A SIMILAR SMALL HOLE ON THE BACK OF THE VASE. NEITHER OF THESE CAN BE FROM DAMAGE BECAUSE THE WHOLE VASE WOULD HAVE CRACKED IF BUMPED OR BROKEN. You can not EASILY see EITHER HOLE . The front hole is LOW on the bottom and hidden. The back hole is  against the wall and hidden.
