DESCRIPTION

Our Anti-Burst* Birthing Ball is a great tool which you can use during your pregnancy, labour and the postnatal period.  It is an excellent alternative to a chair for sitting on and can be a great exercise tool in preparation for labour. 
Certain exercises with the ball can help move your baby into the best possible position prior to and/or during labour.  By guiding your baby into the correct position will help you have a shorter and easier labour.  The ball has many uses, is fun and easy to use.
(*Anti-Burst means that should the Ball ever burst, it will deflate very slowly to avoid any risk of injury.  Please be very careful when you buy a birthing ball as many sellers are not selling Anti-Burst models, and can be dangerous if they do burst)

Our balls come with a FREE PUMP (silver colour), allowing you to inflate the ball easily in your own home.  You can also use an air compressor from a garage or any other foot or hand pump.  Using an air compressor is the quickest way to inflate the ball and normally fills the ball to be very firm which is best for usage.

As you sit on the ball you should keep your legs open and your feet firmly on the floor.  Your hips should be higher than your knees.  If not, then you will either need a larger sized ball or more air in the ball.

WHY BUY A BIRTHING BALL?
Our Anti-Burt Ball provides maximum support.  When sitting astride the ball there is no muscle tension because the thighs and the perineum are gently supported by the gentle counter pressure from the ball. The feet should be firmly grounded, and the spine will naturally adopt a position of good alignment. When using the ball for sitting the incidence of pain in the lower back and pelvic joints decrease. Also the ball appears to enhance the tone of the abdomen and support the pelvic floor, which is already under strain during pregnancy.

Usage during Pregnancy - Either sitting on the ball or kneeling on the floor leaning your upper body over the ball, rocking and circling the hips can be both comfortable and beneficial for you and the baby. It also can be relaxing and relieve backache. It is an excellent support for women suffering from symphysis pubis dysfunction.
Often near the end of your pregnancy it will become difficult to get comfortable in any position on your own sofa or chairs.  Our Ball will become a great comfort and aid during your pregnancy.

During Labour - Once you have become familiar and comfortable with the ball during pregnancy you will probably know best how to use it during labour when the time comes. Kneeling and resting over the ball is a good position, and your birth partner can also massage your lower back. Sitting on the ball and swaying your hips can encourage the baby through the pelvis and into the birth canal.

Postnatal use - Sitting on the ball can be comfortable, and circling the hips will firm and tone the hip, buttocks, inner and outer thighs. Rocking back and forth can help strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Also, holding your baby while sitting on the ball is a good way of rocking a baby without getting overtired.
You may wish to use this ball for many pilates exercises or general toning to get your body back in shape after your pregnancy.
Also, once your baby reaches its toddler stage they will find this a fun toy to play with in the garden!
