A number of years ago one of my local guitar customers traded some Beatles memorabilia from his attic, for one of my guitars. A close relative of his was an executive of the Apple Corporation and worked closely with the Beatles. The memorabilia consisted of some quite unique items, most of which I have kept. One item I have particularly cherished is a poster given to him as a Christmas token/gift by John & Yoko, bearing a stuck on purple and blue flower. More recently I was aproached by the same customer to do a similar deal. And he produced more of these posters in varying conditions, which he had grabbed while visiting the Apple bulding in London, in the seventies. They have suffered damp conditions, have been folded, creased, and some ripped and stuck together, and I have had to take certain measures to restore them.
I am now able to offer for auction a few of those posters that have remained complete.
The posters offered here are a good example of the best of the collection, with minimal rips to the edge, and a mottled effect all over.
The WAR IS OVER poster was used in John & Yoko's worldwide capaign for peace towards the end of 1971.
The message is still appropriate today.
The poster measures approximately 20 inches by 30 inches and vary in size by a cm or so. I guess they were cropped to fit in frames or poster cabinets.
It will be rolled carefully into a strong tube for shipping.
Can arrange for framing at extra cost.
A certificate of authenticity can acompany the poster.
