Tokina is one of the top independent Japanese lens manufacturers, and this is a high quality, compact zoom lens with one touch operation, macro close focusing and multicoated SD glass, in excellent condition with lens caps. It's suitable for Pentax K and KA manual focus SLR cameras, plus many AF and digital models (see below) with manual focusing.

The zoom range covers all popular focal lengths from 70mm and 85mm portrait, 105mm and 135mm medium telephoto to 180mm and 210mm telephoto, plus of course all those in between. Angle of view 34 to 12 degrees. This makes the lens ideal for great pictures of sports, portraits, children, wildlife, travelling, candids and many other subjects. Zoom and focus are controlled by a large one-touch ring with rubber grip for fast, positive handling.

On the Pentax and Samsung digital SLRs (see below) the effective focal length range is equivalent to 105-315mm, giving extra telephoto power for free. The Shake Reduction (SR) feature works to reduce camera shake at slow shutter speeds on the K10D, K100D, K100D Super, K20D, GX-10 and GX-20, with the focal length set manually.

Close focusing down to 1.1m (3.6 feet) at all focal lengths, for a macro reproduction ratio of 1:4 (one quarter life size) at 210mm. This fills the frame with a subject as small as 96x144mm (4x6 inches) on film, and even smaller with DSLRs. Distances are marked in feet and meters, along with an infrared index and depth of field scales. This is a manual focus lens, but works fine on many AF and digital SLRs (see below) with electronic focus confirmation. The focus ring works the same way as Pentax lenses - anti-clockwise from infinity to close focus - which is useful if you're mixing this with others in your camera bag.

Auto diaphragm and full aperture metering, and the aperture ring has a locking A (Auto) setting for complete compatibility with program and shutter priority modes on suitable cameras (see below). Maximum aperture is f/4-5.6, and the lens stops down to f/22-32 in full stops.

Multicoated (MC) glass for reduced flare against the light, and increased contrast and colour fidelity. Standard 52mm filter thread. Optical construction is 12 elements in 8 groups. The lens is very nicely made (in Japan), with a metal barrel and lens mount, smooth controls, clear markings in multiple colours and a high standard of fit and finish. It's extremely compact and lightweight at only around 90mm/3.5 inches long at its smallest settings on the camera, and a mere 435g. Tokina model SZ-X 210N.

Mint- (almost as new)
The lens is in fully working order, and lovely condition. The controls work smoothly, though the zoom/focus action slips slightly when pointed up or down. The diaphragm stops down smartly and is free of oil, each aperture setting clicks into place positively, and the A lock works securely. The glass is in excellent condition, with no scratches, bubbles, fungus, cleaning marks or other problems, beyond tiny specks of dust as usual, which won't affect the pictures at all. Cosmetically the lens has a smooth black finish, clear paintwork and just normal signs of use, with couple of tiny paint scrapes here and there. The box and accessories are in very good condition.

No dents, dings or deep scratches, the filter thread is undamaged, and overall it's in great shape!

In both cases, the mechanical and electronic connections are included for auto diaphragm, full aperture metering and all exposure and metering modes including multi-pattern, program and shutter priority where available.

Also fits most Pentax AF and digital SLR cameras, including the SFX (SF1), SFXn (SF1n), SF7, Z-1 (PZ-1), Z-1P (PZ-1P), Z-10 (PZ-10), Z-20 (PZ-20), Z-70 (PZ-70), MZ-3, MZ-5 (ZX-5), MZ-5n (ZX-5n), MZ-6 (ZX-L), MZ-7 (ZX-7), MZ-10 (ZX-10), MZ-30 (ZX-30), MZ-50 (ZX-50), MZ-S, *ist plus Pentax *ist D, DS, DS2, DL, DL2, K100D, K100D Super, K110D, K200D, K10D and K20D digital SLR cameras - the focal length range will be increased by 50 per cent (see above). Equally suitable for the Pentax-based Samsung GX-1S, GX-1L, GX-10 and GX-20 cameras, but not other Samsung models. Auto diaphragm and full aperture metering, compatible with all exposure and metering modes, and manual focusing only.

The exception is the Pentax MZ-60 (ZX-60) which will NOT work at all with manual focus lenses and accessories.

NOTE: Some independent manual lenses don't fit AF cameras or the MZ-M, as protrusions at the rear foul the power zoom contacts or other features inside the mount. We've checked this lens on Pentax AF and digital cameras, and it fits and works fine. Please contact us if you have any questions about compatibility with your equipment.
