This map is based upon original Ordnance Survey 'Scottish Popular Edition' maps which were first published in the 1920s. They have all been carefully scanned, digitally re-projected and enlarged to cover the same area of the corresponding modern OS Landranger® and use the same sheet number and grid references, so enabling the past and the present to be compared with ease and accuracy. The Cassini Historical OS Maps of Edinburgh provide a unique and fascinating overview of 100 years of Edinburgh’s rich history from 1857 to 1957.
