This auction is for 6 old, collectable and interesting books.
THE WOODLANDERS by THOMAS HARDY - This book was published in 1924 and on the very first page someone has written in ink the words 'With Love from Martha Xmas 1925'.
I did ask my mother who Martha was but she didn't seem to know, seems to be a mystery! The book is in good condition apart from a rip on one single page (pp97 98), it has at some time been repaired with sellotape.
THE LOVE POEMS AND SONNETS OF WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE - This book has illustrations by Vera Bock. It was published in 1957 in USA. This book is ripped on pages 37 & 38 but apart from that is in good condition.
THE GREAT HUNGER by CECIL WOODHAM-SMITH - This book is the story of the Irish potato famine of the 1840's. Published in 1964 the book is in good condition with illustrations.
CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS by LADY AMABEL KERR - This book was published in 1908 and is illustrated throughout. It has a rip on the exterior spine but apart from that is in good condition for it's age.
MADAME DE POMPADOUR by NANCY MITFORD - Published in 1955 this book is in fair condition.
THE CAPTAIN'S LADY by D.K.BROSTER - Published in 1947 this book is in fairly good condition with only slight rips where the book meets the cover at the front and the back.
