In this auction I have 50 metres of a beautiful designer Jet Black coloured lace edging. This lace is 1/2" of an inch wide lace. The laces top edge is straight and has one scalloped 'eye lash' edge and a striking design. It is made from a very good quality fine cotton.
A Perfect little trim for 1:2th scale hand made clothes and dolls / bears dresses and little trimmings.
Our family run company prides itself on making World Famous cotton Leavers Lace - When the laces are made on these huge old machines the resulting lace comes off the machine in a colour we call 'greige' . This basically is a dirty grey colour, a lot resulting from the black lead which is used in making the machines run smoothly. In order to dye the lace to whites ( which incidently there are 120 different shades of !) / ecrus or any other colour the lace has to go through a rigorous process of dying and finishing in extreme temperatures and is stretched on large looms to pull the cotton laces back into shape and to correct the width from the cotton shrinkage. All the laces have a 3 to 5 % composite which will not be cotton - maybe nylon or polyester to help the cotton hold in the dying process and with the modern washing machines would be ruined after one hot wash without it! In the 'trade' strictly speaking a garment or fabric can be called cotton as long as it has at least 95% cotton composition which all our laces have.
All the laces I have listed are still made in England today - by my family of lacemakers Cluny Lace who have been making lace in our family since the early 1800's
Not sure about the design? I have a whole range of different colours of edging listed.... Please look at my other quality laces and email with any questions. I can always send extra photos. You will not be able to find better quality lace anywhere in the world. Check out my other items!
I am always happy to combine multiple purchases to reduce postage / shipping costs. Authenticlace
N.B For £9.05p I can send by courier a large box (probably up to about 30 laces) for that one off fee. If you have multiple wins and if you let me know - bidding over a few weeks to fill a box would be fine. This will make the postage costs a lot cheaper - just let me know. Only to U.K only.
