Tips on how to test the authentication of metal film resistor:

In a world market where cheap carbon film resistors can be camouflaged as metal film resistors, Sure Electronics found a new way to verify. Normally, the resistance of carbon film resistor will drop dramatically as its temperature rises, while the resistance of an authentic metal film resistor will increase slightly. So heat the resistor and measure its resistance is the best way to distinguish. The following figure shows Temperature-Resistance curve of 3 different resistors-authentic metal film resistor provided by Sure Electronics, carbon film resistor and fake metal film resistor.
