Here's a big old garage compressor. It has worked hard for a living and is a big old scruffy machine. But it still works fine and is a very useful tool - as you can see I have painted a few cars with it myself. It will also run tools and has a good capacity tank.
It is a 50 Litre machine, with a twin-cylinder compresspr powered by a 3hp induction motor via a big belt drive. It has 2 air taps. It is single phase, and has a 13 amp plug fitted. This is how it came to me - and it was just about as battered when I got it.
The plug fuse would sometimes go (about 4 or 5 fuses per car...) so I reckon she'd be happier on a 16 amp plug - but if a 13 amp socket is all you have (like me) it will still do the job. I found it best to start with no pressure and the air tap open, and after about a minute close the tap. Then it would thump along happily for hours. But a cold start or a start with some pressure in the tank would sometimes pop a fuse or trip the overload button on the motor unit.
I am selling this as I now don't have a garage, and after tripping over this in my shed for 2 years I now realise that the glory days of full resprays are over for me and I will need a smaller machine.
The hose is quite perished and split so I bought a new hose (included) - but I had fixed the hose with masking tape mid-way through a spary-job and it did fine, so I never got round to fitting the new hose.
The other problem is water - there is some water sloshing around in the bottom of the tamk (was some water there when I got it...) - there is a drain plug for this but I do not have the right sort of key (square allen-type I think...) there is also a nut-type drain plug elsewher on the same tank but I could not shift it. I have not put a massive effort into this - with decent tools and a blow-lamp it would probably undo but be careful to ensure no pressure in the tank! (probably wise to take air regulator valve out before playing around with this).
However, as it is now it will work and it will spray. Eventually the water would cause problems or would fill the whole tank up! - But you could paint a couple of cars without doing anything to it.
It is VERY heavy - 2-man lift - so is collection only, near Portsmouth. I am happy to deal with your own courier.
Low start and No Reserve, as it has got to go.

Happy bidding. Tom
