More likely than not, these five dishes were originally created as ashtrays. They are a great size for small snack foods - like nuts or mints. Each dish is just under 4" square, and about 1" high at the rim. They have a green decal in the center, which reads "Charteuese Liqueur". They are made of Opalex, which is a milky white glass made by the J. G. Durand Company of France. Each dish is embossed: "Made in France" and "Opalex". They also have the stickers from the importer, Schieffelin & Company on the back.
These are used dishes, and have a little wear. Some scuffs, light scratches. One dish has a small crack/nick in the corner. No other cracks, there is slight discoloration of the glass, mostly on the underside. Clean, ready to use or display.
