Turin Turambar is a major figure from JRR Tolkien’s legendarium concerning the First Age of Middle-earth. Turin’s story can almost be paraphrased by a short passage in The Silmarillion: “Turin grew strong and fair in Doriath, but he was marked with sorrow”.
Who is Mim and Ibun?
Mîm was the last of the Petty-Dwarves. He sheltered Túrin during his outlaw days in his home in Amon Rûdh, since which was named Dar-en-Danwedh (The House of Ransom). He and his remaining son Ibun lived with Túrin and his band of outlaws for a year. In the year 487 of the First Age, Mîm was captured by a tribe of Orcs, to who he betrayed the location of Túrin and his home.
In the year 501, he resettled the halls of Nargothrond which his ancestors had built. Húrin, father of Túrin, later came along a slew the dwarf in revenge of his son. Mîm outlived both of his sons and the Petty-Dwarves died with him.
Who was Morgoth?
Melkor was the most powerful of the Ainur, but turning to darkness, became Morgoth, the "great enemy", the ultimate antagonist of Arda, from whom all evil in the world of Middle-earth ultimately stems. Sauron, one of the Maiar of Aulë, betrayed his kind and became Morgoth's principal lieutenant. Morgoth is credited with creating the first orcs and trolls that inhabit Middle-earth.
What are Wolf Sentinels?
Wolves had a measure of intelligence in the early times of Middle-earth and were used to guard camps of orcs. One such camp held Turin Turambar prisoner, and he was rescued by Beleg, who shot the wolves protecting the camp without alerting the orcs.
Who was Gwindor?
Gwindor was an elf lord of Nargothrond, the brother of Gelmir and the son of Guilin. Gwindor was captured by Morgoth during Gwindors assault on Angband, and was mistreated for 14 years. Only after he escaped did he encounter Turin. It was Gwindor who aroused Turin to burying Beleg (whom he killed by accident), and it was also Gwindor who took Anglachel and the lembas; and both those items played a part in the future. Gwindor's strength was returned as he guarded and guided Turin, who was in a walking sleep. Gwindor took Turin to Ivrin's lake, where Turin's madness was cured, and Laer Cu Beleg was composed.
These are examples of the four blister packs.
This will make an excellent addition to any diorama, painted scene or display of Tolkien Lord of the Rings figures. It was designed by well known Mithril sculptor Chris Tubb.
