Here I offer 4 CDs containing high resolution scans produced from 4 original photo albums within my collection. Three of the albums belonged to named German soldiers; the fourth I believe belonged to one of Rommel's support staff during the Poland campaign.
CD 1 contains approximately 400 high resolution scans. The album belonged to Gustav Geiler. Most of the photos were taken between 1940 and 1943, although there are pictures of his RAD service in 1936 and pictures to the mid-1950s when he had risen to the rank of major in the re-formed German Air Force. The highlights of this album are the many photos taken in the early stages of WW2 when the army cut through Belgium and France, showing burnt out British and French tanks and planes, devastation, etc. There is also a photo of a downed RAF Lancaster bomber; another shows RAF uniformed personnel (crew?).
CD 2 contains approximately 200 high resolution scans. The album belonged to Kurt Buetel and covers the period 1940-41. Again there are pictures of the invasion of France and Belgium, also some very interesting photos of the Luftwaffe airfield at Villa Coublay in France.
CD 3 contains approximately 100 high resolution scans. The album belonged to army driver Josef Kaldenbach. There are some good shots of tanks, heavy anti-aircraft guns, knocked out Russian T-34 tanks , wardead ,POWs , devastation and I have also included a scan of his original army driving licence.
CD 4 contains approximately 175 high resolution scans, all relating to the campaign in Poland. All the photos were taken between 1-29 September 1939. I believe the former owner was part of Rommel's support staff. There are lots of images of German tanks and knocked out Polish tanks, vehicles, and war dead (both German and Polish), Polish POWs, planes, devastation and bomb damage to towns/buildings. These are very good images which give a good feel to the time this man spent in the early part of WW2.
What I look for in collectible photo albums is authenticity and these 4 albums fit the bill. They each tell a story.
If you have already bought one of these cds I will happily substitute it for another WW2 German Cd listed in my shop , just contact me .
