Summary and Details
This is a unique 3-dimensional image of a Galaxy lazer-etched into a cut-glass crystal cube which measures 1" inch or 25mm (1cm) cubed. Two of the corners of the cube are sliced flat so that the cube can be stood on a corner. The piece looks beautiful in direct sunlight or back-lit.
The Spiral Galaxy represented is 100,000 light years in diameter, 15,000 light years in thickness and has 200 billion stars. A truely beautiful and magnificent miniature model representation of a Galaxy.
This is one "model" from a set of 8 available from Volume 2, also known as the BLACK Frontier or Night Volume of the Royal Museum of Science - Startales collection (released in 2004 and now deleted).
These models were a joint project between the model producers KAIYODO and were then marketed and sold by TAKARA. Two volumes of ROYAL SCIENCE MUSEUM MODELS were issed in 2003 and 2004 (Night and Day or Black and White Frontiers respectively). These Real Space models proved extremely popular and were quickly sold-out and deleted after their releases.
The piece is brand new and carefully packed in a plastic blister package and boxed. The box has been carefully opened (from the bottom) in order to identify which item was inside.
This very rare collection of glass and plastic items were sold randomly and "blind" packed, therefore the box must be opened to discover which surprise item you have inside.
The packaging includes a full colour backing card with an image of a Galaxy, and various facts and figures in the Japanese language. There is also included a fold-out A4 poster/information sheet with lots of details about Galaxies in general and the history of Astronomy (in Japanese only), including excellent photographs and factual drawings. This is a most impressive Astronomy / Space Exploration model diorama with associated collectable ephemera.

The spacial dimensions of the laser-etched crystal are as follows: 25mm x 25mm x 25mm (1" x 1" x 1" inch).
