These drain rods are designed for general-purpose domestic drain cleaning. It's a simple enough job for anyone and the set will repay itself many times over when you consider the cost of calling out a plumber.

This 12 piece set includes 10 rods (920 x 18 mm) with two attachments, 100 mm rubber plunger and 50 mm double worm screw. Made with universal joints, they simply screw together. 

The double worm screw is made from hardened steel. It is primarily used to thread through any soft blockage inside the pipe or drain. When pierced the double worm screw is then dragged back through the blockage to free it and in turn clear the pipe. The rubber plunger is made from high grade industrial rubber and is used to create a build-up of pressure, which in turn forces the obstruction to clear. Rods are both crimped and riveted for added security - they should always be rotated in a clockwise direction.. 

One feature which sets this product apart from others though is its amazing flexibility and strength. When tackling a deep drain, or one with a less than straight run, it is sometimes difficult to gain access with the traditional, stiffer rods.
