This fly has an excellent reputation and will catch fish regardless of time of day or year. It is mainly best fished from February through to October. Water colouration does,nt seem to hinder the flies performance either!
Originally designed as a top dropper fly , the fly is also very successful when fished in smaller sizes alone or as a tail fly on a cast of two or three wet flies. It's so versatile even it can be fished dry or damp when dark/Olive coloured terrestrials are about on the lake. It will catch Brown Trout, Sea Trout, Rainbow Trout and Salmon and is rarely excluded from the cast by anglers in the know once afloat on the larger loughs.
I favour this pattern in the top dropper position, buts it a puller anywhere on the cast really.
