I am offering 3 beautiful old orchard apple boxes, known as "Bushel Boxes"
Their dimensions are: length 563mm, width 365mm height 270mm. In addition there is a post at each corner which sticks up another 10mm so that when stacking in a conventional manner, allow for a height of 280mm. These are all exterior measurments and vary +/- 1mm from box to box. The wood is approx 7mm thick and varies +/- 1mm between boxes so you will need to subtract about 14mm from each dimension to arrive at the interior measurement.
I'm not sure what wood they are made from but they are hard and heavy!
No longer required for the apple harvest but these boxes have many other uses:-
Strong storage boxes: (stackable up to 5 high and if on pallets, 3 pallets high. i.e. very very strong!)
Shop displays: Just pop down to your local flower shop - they all use them to display their plants
Rustic shelving: I have used them (on their sides) in the house and around the farm for years as shelving units. They only take minutes to put up and can be stacked to the roof to make full use of a wall as storage space. Please take care to secure them firmly to the wall and each other for obvious reasons. It is too easy to stack them against the wall to see what looks good and forget to make them safe!
Plant troughs: A killer finishing touch to your patio or decking area. Best to stand them slightly off the ground and line with polythene (or zinc sheeting if you are really smart!) You can grow plants in them or just use them to stand pot plants in for extra rustic effect.
These sell in smart house and garden websites for £20 or more EACH. Stocks are limited so don't hold back.
I'm selling them in 3's because they stack neatly in 3's (one in side the other two) for easy transport and together, 3 weigh just under 15kgs.
These are old but in good condition. They will be pressure washed before despatch but they are rustic and not made from planed wood!
A few may have traces of woodworm which I will not be treating. I will not be sending out boxes that are structurally unsound. They have been stored undercover and are in fantastic condition for their age.

Ages vary but in general they are between 40 and 60 years old. Most have North Perrott Fruit Farm written on them but a few will have neighbouring farms names printed on the box. (Check out our old two digit telephone number!)
Obviously boxes of this age are in limited supply but if you have a larger project in mind, there may be other lots in the near future.
Thank you for visiting my auction and happy bidding.
