3 LANTERN SLIDES - 3 DIFFERENT EDDYSTONE LIGHTHOUSES

Description

This auction is for 3 Magic Lantern Slides, size 3 1/4in x 3 1/4in with images in the same order as the following pictures showing the 4th, 3rd & 1st Eddystone Lighthouse. The images of the 1st & 3rd lighthouse were taken from illustrations, the 4th lighthouse is a photograph. The 1st Eddystone Lighthouse was completed in 1699 but swept away by a violent storm in 1703. The 3rd was completed in 1759 but subsequently undermined by the sea to be replaced by the 4th in 1882. The slides are in good condition with some surface marks and some slight attention needed to the edge bindings. The initial three pictures shown below are of the slides photographed on a lightbox to show reasonably true reproductions of the actual images. These are followed by photographs of the three slides without the lightbox to enable the general detail of the slides to be shown, but of course at the expense of poor quality images with reflections etc. As with all my slides they will be well protected and packed when dispatched

Shipping

I always endeavour to post as quickly as possible. All purchases are posted immediately payment is received and cleared. Do please bear with me regarding cheque clearance but rest assured I do carry out daily checks and post items immediately the clearance is confirmed

In accordance with the changes introduced by eBay regarding insurance cover no longer being an option for the buyer, but a provision in all cases by the seller, it has been necessary for me to ensure that my quoted postage and packing charges are sufficient on every listing to cover any such claim. Unfortunately this has meant the introduction of the following:

In the case of purchases by UK buyers my quoted price for Royal Mail 1st Class only applies to purchases to a maximum of £39 (this being the Royal Mail maximum cover for 1st & 2nd Class). Purchases that exceed that amount will be sent by Special Delivery or Standard Parcels which will include compensation cover and those charges are listed accordingly in the p&p charges. Should therefore In fairness to buyers I will of course endeavour not to be too rigid in applying the £39 maximum although ensuring that there is no loss to the buyer in the event of a Royal Mail delivery problem

In the case of International buyers I will consider the best options to ensure the already heavy shipping charges are as reasonable as possible. Royal Mail Airmail Standard Parcels is only insured to a maximum of £39 and therefore other Airmail options will have to be considered if the purchase value exceeds that amount. Should therefore a winning bid exceed £39 please do not send payment before contact has been made. However as with UK sellers I will endeavour not to be too rigid in applying the £39 maximum although ensuring that there is no loss to the buyer in the event of a delivery problem

These changes may also have an effect on postage charges for multiple purchase. I have always endeavoured to make these as beneficial as possible for buyers and I will of course make every endeavour to continue to do so
