This auction is for a set of 25 antique nails, 3" long. (The picture represents the kind, quality and style of nails that you will be receiving.) The set will be made up of two different styles of  3" nails. I have only shown 6 nails as an example.

You are bidding on a lot of 25 Antique "Wrought Iron" Cut Square Nails. These nails are called square headed, but actually, they have a  more rectangular tapered shape. These nails have been in storage for over 30 years. They were saved when a 100-year-old house, here in Nebraska, was torn down. That makes these nails over 130 years old! NOT REPRODUCTIONS! All are rusty and straight.

Some people have purchased nails from me to use in art projects, craft projects and general repairs with that old antique look! With nails of this length, 3", I would think that one could consider them as building hardware for older home restoration, cabin and "that place near the lake" upkeep.

The nails are decorative but they can also be used to secure loose antique furniture parts. A person told me that these nails work great when joining furniture parts. This type of antique nail holds much better than the round zinc nails. They are also difficult to remove, therefore they do what they are intended to do. The key idea is that each nail has a lot of surface area when compared to its length, therefore the increased surface area creates more contact area with the wood. They are also more difficult to remove because of the increased friction they would cause when you would try to remove them.
