What is it?

Fossil Shield® is made from fossil plankton, a naturally occurring fossil of a single celled plant that settled on the sea beds ages ago. It has been treated to enhance its water repellent properties, hence keeping it active for many months.

How does it work?

It breaks down the waxy coating on the red mite, causing them to dehydrate and die. This process can take 24 hours.

Typically work on 4g Fossil Shield® per bird

 Fossil Shield® comes in 4 sizes... 100g and 200g bottles, 250g, 500g,1kg and 5kg refill bags(require Applicator)

The bottles have directional puffer nozzles on them that aerate the Fossil Shield® allowing you to apply over the building

An Applicator is required for use with bagged Fossil Shield® as in effect you are buying "loose" Fossil Shield®.

Application Method

Red Mite live in cracks in between wood in your hen house, i.e. in-between cladding, where cladding meets baton, where perch meets the house, in the nest boxes etc.

Fossil Shield® should be applied to create a barrier in between these Red Mite hiding places and where the birds sleep, so the red mite have to crawl through the powder to get to the chickens (their dinner!). So coat the batons, around the nest boxes, around the perches, etc
