What you are buying:
Oxalic Acid is formulated to remove stains formed when iron and moisture combine with the natural tannic acid in the wood.
Some woods like oak, teak, cherry and mahogany etc contain a high amount of tannic acid and a black stain is formed when the wood gets wet with tap water, this is because tap water contains traces of iron. For example: A wet glass or vase left on these types of wood will produce a black ring also nails / screws will form black rings around their heads if the wood gets wet.
If you use tap water on unfinished oak and mahogany, grey spots will form on the surface of the wood. Oxalic Acid will remove them without affecting the natural colour and tone of the wood.
Recommended for removing the greying effect caused by of outdoor exposure of timber and is ideal for use on furniture that has been stripped ready for re-finishing, it will lighten the colour and re-establish the tone and patina of the timber.
How to use:
1. To make 100mls of Wood Bleach add 3 x level teaspoons of Oxalic acid to 100mls of clean hot water.
2. Apply with a brush, cloth, sponge or a hand sprayer.
3. When desired colour is achieved clean with a sponge / cloth using with clean water.
