A Guide to help calculate your SPF:

Take the time you’re going to be outside in minutes and divide it by your skins own protection time. The result is the SPF you should be applying to your skin to avoid sun burn. If this SPF is not available, always round up to the next, higher one.

 

Example:

Person with Skin Type 2, skin’s own protection time = 10 min

Exposure to the sun for approximately 3 hours

3 hours = 180 min              180 min / 10 min = 18                     SPF 18 not available, apply SPF 20

Application directions:

Apply about 3-4 tablespoons of suncare product 20 minutes before exposure to the sun. Reducing quantity applied will lower the level of protection significantly. Re-apply frequently to maintain protection especially after swimming or towel drying.
