In 2008 the Perth Mint struck a limited issue Kangaroo Prestige collection of 5 solid 999 Gold coins commemorating one of Australia most endeering species the Kangaroo. This design is the second in a series of three by famous Australian artists. Included in this set is a silver medal which features a dramatic coloured reproduction of the 2008 design. The Australian Gold Kangaroo has a new design every year, of course always featuring the island nation‘s famous marsupial. This gold coin is one of the world‘s most desired because of its design, its purity and the Perth Mint‘s high standards. A prolific artist and freelance designer, Reg Mombassa‘s artwork has graced T-shirts, album and CD covers as well as billboards, calendars, books, diaries and even a Melbourne tram.
