Summary for 2007 Mini Cooper S Hatchback 1.6 3dr
This 2007 Mini Cooper S Hatchback 1.6 3dr is offered to you directly from Hitachi Capital Vehicle Solutions who are the original owners from new.
This car has covered 28922 miles from new. The full HPI check showed no record of any major accidents, as can be seen (for free) on the clear HPI report. This car also comes with a history, and a valid V5 document. An independent RAC Body and Mechanical inspection has been conducted, for which the full details can be accessed from the RAC report beneath the photos.
Better to drive. More space. Less fuss. That's what makes this MINI Cooper S different from the one it replaces - even though it may look virtually the same. Most of the changes are under the skin and they help make it better than ever. There's a new turbocharged engine, updated interior and every body panel is different - though not so you'd notice. But the best bits have been kept, so it's fantastic to drive, fun and even sensible to own - it depreciates slowly and is cheap to service. This means it's a hot hatch that appeals to the head as well as the heart.
If it's the first time you've ever driven a Cooper S you'll find it's quick off the mark (0-62mph in 7.1 seconds) and fast (top speed is 140mph). But it's how it performs once you've got going that really impresses. Put your foot down and the 1.6-litre with 175bhp surges forward with increasing urge. It's smooth, flexible and there's loads of pulling power on offer, which means that overtaking is a breeze: the turbocharger kicks in just when it's needed. If you're already a Cooper S owner and you're replacing your car with one of these, you'll notice that it has a slightly different character. That's because it uses a different engine with a turbocharger in place of the supercharger. This means that it's more laid back and easier to drive at slower speeds, but the power is easily accessible when you need it. The six-speed manual gearbox is standard. The gears are well spaced and it's smooth to use.
This MINI is as good as ever to drive and offers the kind of thrills usually on offer only to owners of much more expensive cars. It's fun to drive as it's grippy, agile and has responsive steering. Plus, as you'd expect, the MINI is also a dab hand when it comes to town or city driving. It's got a tight turning circle and steering that's not too heavy. The suspension is a huge improvement over the old car. Although the Cooper S is much stiffer than other MINIs, it's now much more comfortable, doesn't jar, yet still adds to the MINI's sporty feel.
For the two up front, there's plenty of head and legroom and the MINI feels comfortable. It's tighter in the back, though a slight improvement over the previous (2001-2006) model. Unless you've got children, it's best to think of the rear seats as purely for occasional use and for short trips. A new feature is that you can change the colour of the interior lighting (for instrument readouts and the ambient) from orange to blue (and back) at the flick of a switch: it's yet another way in which you can tailor MINI to your own taste. With high quality materials and neat design, it's pleasant inside. It's reasonably refined at speed, with only the sound of the engine noticeable. However, it's much quieter than the car it replaces.
The retro-chic which has made the modern MINI so popular is slightly toned down. More is made, however, of the iconic interior details, so the centrally-mounted speedo is larger, there are more 'rocker' switches, which are similar to the original. The driving position is upright, which echoes that of the original Mini, but it's very comfortable even on longer trips and theres plenty of seat and steering wheel adjustment.
Every MINI Cooper S has 16-inch alloy wheels, 'Sport' button, stability control, honeycomb radiator grille, body-colour tailgate handle, chrome-plated fuel filler cap, chrome-plated side indicator grilles, chequered interior upholstery, roof spoiler in roof colour, leather steering wheel and gearknob, stainless steel pedals and footrest, run-flat tyres, front sports seats and twin chrome exhaust pipes.
The MINI was awarded five stars by Euro NCAP for adult occupancy crash safety and the Cooper S comes with all the kit you'd expect as standard. That includes dual front, side and curtain headbags and Isofix child seat mounting points. Security-wise there's remote central locking, and alarm and an immobiliser. For the first time, there's a keyless entry and start system.
