It is my pleasure to offer for sale by auction this amazing ex Police vehicle which truly does tick all the boxes !
If you want, Power, Economy, Space and a car to be proud of sitting on your driveway then here she is.
Fitted with the highly sort after 3 litre turbo diesel engine, married to a silky smooth 5-speed Steptronic gearbox for the best combination of power and of course.......amazing levels of economy !
The car is very smooth around town and effortless to drive. You can either just place her in 'D' for drive and let the car do all the work or push the gear leaver over to the left and you have a clutchless sports mode.
And as with all Police Cars in the Traffic Role to used to respond to emergency calls - its a real powerhouse.
So if you need to be first off at the lights in your daily sprint to or from work or need to eat up some serious miles quickly on the motorways this car is for you.
Be warned however Thanks to the BMW's super powerful 3 Litre engine the Police will tell you - it will - travel at more than twice the UK legal speed limit with ease.
The fact that a Diesel cars such as the BMW 530d have replaced high performance petrol cars like the 3.2 Litre Vauxhalls and the 2.3 Turbo Volvos is a testament to high levels of Police satisfaction with the car. And you will soon see other Police Forces follow as the accountants see the MPG savings ! ! !
The BMW diesel engines are now just as powerful as the petrol ones which is why they now make a BMW 635d 'Yes a sports coupe with a diesel engine'!
I know that we would all like a brand new M5 if only we had a spare £63K!
But with the price of fuel these days you'd also have to ask yourself if you'd rather not have a 535d?
The 3.5 litre Diesel engined 535d is not only £24k cheaper than the 5 litre Petrol engined M5 its only 1.7 sec's slower from 0-62mph and both do a 'limited' top speed of 155mph !
And lets face it - the 535d will still get to over take the M5.....when that keeps stopping to fill up with gas and who can afford to risk getting pulled over doing 155mph anyway ??? ! ! ! !
Right - enough dreaming of things we cant afford - back to this car - which you can......
Be it pottering round town on your own or at motorway speed fully loaded with passengers and a boot full of kit.....The BMW 530d laps it up......a true driving pleasure !
So what do you get with an Ex Police BMW 530d ?
Well you get a car that's only just 5 years old and seeing as the Police have just started to replace the E39 with the new E60 model you get a car that has covered just 54k miles - nothing for a quality diesel !!!
And as normal with the Traffic Police vehicles it has spent a considerable amount of that 54K criusing along in lane one of the motorway waiting for the next job.......a passing M5 maybe ? !
Added to that the Traffic boys and girls are all Advanced Drivers and look after their machines. After all they want them to perform well and be totally safe when called upon to be on the wrong side of 100 MPH.
Therefore as always an Ex Police car can only be described as having been ‘over serviced’ at ‘no expense spared’ using genuine BMW parts. This is what you get :-

Tinted Glass
Central Locking
5 Speed Steptronic Gearbox

All this and a car that looks the business and ticks all the boxes with you and your 'accountant' ......also known as..... ‘her in dors’ ! ! ! !
A quick flick through the Yellow Pages and a call to a local BMW garage about a similar spec car could cost you over £12,000. Why would you want to do that when you could have this one for a lot less - People will still think that you paid £12K for her - Only you'd know that you got such a bargain ! ! !
AND GUESS WHAT.....if you kept the BMW for the same amount of time as 'The Jones' and then sold it on you'd have another smug feeling....because Mr Jones 2nd hand Ford wont be worth as much as your 2nd hand BMW....That's another reason why so many people run a BMW these days !!!!
Of course it has the odd scratch or dink, as you would expect from any car that is ex Police or indeed one that's lived in London.
As always to be fair to you I have been very picky with the description and listed them up as follows. BEWARE some people on here are far more 'economic' with their descriptions !
However as the photos show she's still a very good looking girl and they are all easy fixes.
Very light Scratches on some panels where the markings were removed.
Tiny finger tip size carpark dinks to nearside / offside rear doors.
An unhappy Police 'Customer' appears to have taken the opportunity of some 'payback' when the Officers backs were turned and has keyed the nearside rear door (photo). There is also small dent and some stratches the lower section of drivers the door (photo) and some more scratches to the offside rear door. None of these appear to have broken through the paint.
This was a marked Police Traffic Car and as such ther are two small sections missing from the plastic roof guttering where the bar lights were fitted. Thankfully only a single radio aerial hole to the rear of the roof (some cars had 7+ holes in the roof !). Everything has been sealed against the weather by the Police garages when they removed the lights.
All that is required too make good again are two new sections of roof guttering (from a breakers or Ebay) and either a carphone type aerial or better still maybe a BMW type'sharks fin' fitted over the aerial hole and she'll look 100% again.
Apart from the roof most of the items mentioned are small imperfections and appear to be common with most city cars and indeed anyone that shops at Tesco !
I might have missed a couple of tiny marks if your bringing a mircoscope with you. But its not intentional and remember you really are getting a bargain ex Police car NOT a showroom model !!!
Get hold of Chips a way and you'll see that they are all cheap and easy fixes.
From a couple of feet away they are near invisible and unless they niggle away at you I'm guessing that some people wont even bother to get them done !
Moving to the inside of the car all of the seats are comfortable and in dark cloth. There are items missing from the dash and centre console where the Police fitted their radios, lights and data terminals. Plus some small sections of carpet. However the good news is that these too are easy to replace.
In fact I've already started to collect some parts for you to make the job even easier - these are available at extra cost
Or just search Ebay and obtain the parts yourself. The E39 has been around for a while now and parts are available everywhere !
DONT goto BMW or you'll pay and arm & a leg !
As with any fleet vehicle everything needs a bit of a clean and tidy up to bring it up to near showroom condition. But now that the weathers getting nice again I'm sure you'll enjoy making a suitable excuse to leave the gardening for another week in favour of pampering the BMW !!!
A few parts & some elbow grease and maybe a bit of work from the likes of Chips-a-way or Dent Devils and you'd never know she was ex Police !
So there you are – The car – Warts and all !
I have looked at a lot of these cars in recent months and there appears to be a lot of rubbish out there that still sells for a good price. I wouldn't buy a rubbish car and I wouldn't want to sell one either !
Of course if you're not sure that this car is the one for you then please arrange to have a look at some others and then come and have a look at mine - before you bid - You won't be disappointed !
The car comes with a Full Service History print out from the Police garages which shows that it was last serviced at 47209 miles.
The MOT is due shortly and I will ensure it gets a new Moted before you come and collect her - for 12 months 'worry free' motoring - BARGIN !!!!
As always - Normal auction rules apply – you bid – you win – you buy !!!!
NO TYRE KICKERS !
No bidders with under 10 + feedback unless I have an email with landline phone number, name and address first. Then and only then will I give you the green light to bid. If not SORRY but the bid will be cancelled !
