Rare 2002 United Kingdom Gold Proof Two Pence
coin in excellent Fleur de Coin
condition. Struck in gold as a commemorative piece for the Queen's
Golden Jubilee and only released as part of the 2002 Golden Jubilee Gold Proof
Set. This set included all nine coins of the United Kingdom (1p, 2p, 5p, 10p,
20p, 50p, £1, £2 & £5) along with the four Maundy coins, all struck in 22ct
Gold. The obverse of the coin has the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait of Queen Elizabeth II which has been used on UK coinage since 1998. The reverse design by Christopher Ironside features the Badge of the Prince of Wales. It comprises three ostrich feathers enfiling a coronet of crosses pattee and fleurs-de-lys with the motto ICH DIEN (I serve). This rare piece comes with the original mint capsule in which it was issued. Any marks in the photos are on the capsule and not the coin itself. As it was issued to celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee year this coin had a strict issue limit of only 2002 pieces. Struck by the Royal Mint in .916 (22ct) Gold with a 25.91mm diameter.
