2001 MERCEDES E220 SALOON PETROL/LPG

The car was first registered on 04/12/2001 and is a two owner car. It was purchased new on the 4th December 2001 and imported from India. Chassis number is WDB1240226C288373 

The W124 model ceased to be manufactured in Germany in 1995 but continued to be built by MB in India until 2001/2002

The W124 model has the reputation of being best E class ever produced by MB and was the last of the “over engineered” cars. It has already become a very collectable model with rising prices.

This has covered 180,000 motorway miles with the first owner and a further 20,000 by me. The car was fitted with an LPG conversion in June 2002 at 3,000 miles. A brand new LPG conversion replaced the original  at a cost of £1,250 in Oct 2006. The car has been run on Castrol Magnatec Modern 15/40w semi synthetic oil since new. Current speedo reading does not tally with the actual mileage because I replaced the original instrument. I got a little fed up with the indicated speed in mph but the recorded distance in kilometres (very confusing!). Speedo reading 124,500 miles.

The LPG gas tank is in the spare wheel compartment and holds a water equivalent capacity of 80 litres which is about 64 litres of gas. This gives the car a range of around 340 miles at a fuel cost of less than 10p per mile (almost half the petrol cost for the same mileage) LPG prices vary from about 45p per litre (Midlands) to about 60p here in Cornwall. The condition of the car is good but there is a little rust in the front offside wing now (I have a brand new wing available at £70 if required).

The car is finished in graphite grey metallic with cream leather seats. The carpets etc are the original blue. No one has ever smoked inside the car.

The car has a 2200 cc engine with a somewhat rare manual transmission - 5 speed gearbox.

The car has a new full MOT certificate and is taxed until April 2010.

The front & rear discs & pads were replaced 20,000 miles ago at a cost of £350.
