ROVER 25 IS TURBO DIESEL
HERE WE HAVE A ROVER 25 TURBO DIESEL - YEAR 2000 (W reg).
I ORIGINALLY BOUGHT THE CAR IN APRIL 2007 AS A NON RUNNER, THE CAR HAD STOOD SINCE ABOUT JUNE 2006 AND AS THE PREVIOUS OWNER STATED AT THE TIME HE HAD BLOWN THE HEAD GASKET (ON CLOSER INSPECTION THE HEAD GASKET HAD PROBABLY GONE DUE TO A CORE PLUG COMING OUT AND RUNNING THE CAR OUT OF WATER). I BOUGHT THE CAR WITH THE INTENTION OF PUTTING ANOTHER ENGINE IN AND USING THE CAR BUT DUE TO OTHER PRIORITIES AND LACK OF TIME I STARTED TAKING THE ENGINE OUT BUT DID NOT GET ANY FURTHER THAN THAT AND AS I HOPE TO EMIGRATE WITHIN 6-8 MONTHS I NO LONGER REALLY HAVE A USE FOR THE CAR.
THE REPLACEMENT ENGINE THAT IS PICTURED IS A NEW ENGINE WHICH WILL BE A PACKAGE TO GO WITH THE CAR THE ENGINE HAS NEVER BEEN IN A CAR AND WAS PURCHASED INDIRECTLY APPROX 9 MONTHS AGO FROM THE ROVER FACTORY. THE ENGINE WOULD JUST NEED THE ANCILLARY PARTS SWAPPED FROM THE OLD ENGINE TO THE NEW ONE - A NEW ENGINE LIKE THIS WOULD PROBABLY COST ABOUT £1800 NEW! AND PROBABLY FETCH £500 ON EBAY.
ON THE NEGATIVE SIDE THE CAR ITSELF IS IN FAIR CONDITION WITH THE BODYWORK HAVING A FEW SCRATCHES AND SCRAPES BUT NO MAJOR DENTS OR RUST ANYWHERE AND THE MG SIDESKIRTS COULD DO WITH BEING REPAINTED, IT ALSO NEEDS A FRONT WINDSCREEN. THE INTERIOR COULD ALSO DO WITH A BIT OF TLC AS ITS A BIT SCRUFFY / TATTY BUT NOTHING THAT WOULD BE OF ANY MAJOR EXPENSE!
ON THE POSITIVE SIDE - IT WILL BE A SMART LOOKING CAR WHEN RUNNING AGAIN AND TIDIED UP AS ITS A NICE COLOUR WITH THE MG SKIRTS AND REAR SPOILER AND NICE ALLOY WHEELS, IT IS THE 'IS' MODEL WHICH WAS THE HIGHER SPEC MODEL THAT HAD AIRCON. I HAVE RECENTLY FITTED BRIDGESTONE POTENZA (POLE POSITION) TYRES ON THE FRONT THAT I HAD THAT HAD ONLY PREVOUSLY DONE 500 MILES (COST NEARLY £180) AND IT HAS TWO GOOD PIRELLI'S ON THE BACK SO THERE NO WORRIES WITH THE TYRES!
I HAVE THE V5 DOCUMENT BUT UNFORTUNATLY I DID NOT MANAGE TO GET ANY SERVICE HISTORY FROM THE PREVIOUS OWNER AND THE 55,000 MILES THAT IT DISPLAYS ON THE CLOCK CAN NOT BE VERIFIED, THE CAR IS HPi CLEAR WITH NO RECORD OF OUTSTANDING FINANCE, NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT OR STOLEN ETC...... BUT DONT JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT! I DO HAVE A PRINT OUT / COPY FROM WHEN I DID THE HPi CHECK ON THE VEHICLE
THE CAR WOULD OBVIOUSLY HAVE TO BE LIFTED OR TRAILERED AWAY AS IT DOES NOT RUN (THE NEW ENGINE COULD MAYBE GO INTO THE BACK OF THE CAR) - FEEL FREE TO COME AND HAVE A LOOK BEFORE YOU BID IF YOU CAN OR EMAIL WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MAY HAVE - TO BID IS TO BUY AND NOT JUST TO COME AND KICK THE TYRES (OR THE USUAL TRICKS SOME PEOPLE DO). CASH ON COLLECTION OR PAYPAL WOULD BE ACCEPTABLE FORMS OF PAYMENT HOWEVER I WOULD REQUIRE A £30 DEPOSIT PRIOR TO PICKING UP THE CAR - TO PREVENT ANY MESSERS THAT ARE OUT THERE!
