20,000 Jobs Under The Sea

by

Torrance Parker

Extremely rare (particularly in this near fine state). The definative work that outlines the history of Diving & Underwater engineering from an American perspective.

The author satrted diving as a young boy when he was living in Oklahoma at he end of the American depression. He began diving with apparatus that he constructed from bits of old farm equipment and was a sponge diver, whilst still a teenager, during World War II.

After the war Torrance Parker founded Parker Diving Service which is the oldest southern California commercial diving company still in business.

Working as a commercial diver for nearly a half century meant that Parker took on a huge and wide variety of challenging jobs. Eventually selling Parker Diving Service in 1985, he began to assemble stories and photographs of commercial diving in southern California.

It is this material which has been pulled together to form the basis of this superb book which was aimed at preserving the memories of southern California divers and their great works.

A prized copy for any serious diving book collector.

This copy is in near fine condition. It has been stored under ideal conditions for a book of such tremendous quality and value. It has No scribles, inscriptions or other marks. The Dustjacket is in matching 'near fine' condition. A large format hardback book filled with stunning pictures of hard hat divers at work. (this heavy book ships with FULL insurance for your peace of mind.

An important piece of Diving History
