History: ""The Cycladic civilization of the Aegean Sea flourished at about the same time as the early Egyptian and Mespotamian civilizations (c. 3000-2000 B.C.) and is considered the forerunner of the first truly European civilization - GREECE.

The sculpture produced by the artisans of the Cyclades Islands was very unique compared to the art being produced by the Egyptians and Mesopotamians. these sculptures, commonly called Cycladic Idols, were often used as grave offering, which points to the obvious role if religion in society.

Probably the most striking characteristic of the Cycladic sculpture is it's geometric, 2-dimensional nature, which has a strangely modern familiarity. Cycladic sculpture can safely be called the first truly great sculpture in Greece.

• Base: Approximately 2" X 2"

These statues are in excellent condition. No cracks, scratches or chips.  One has a small smudge, but should probably come right off with a non-caustic cleanser.

These were brought back to the States in the late 1970s from Greece, and have been stored since 1980. These statues can usually only be purchased in Greece or ordered on-line and shipped from Greece.  Excellent condition.

These will be securely bubble-wrapped and shipped safely in packing peanuts for a safe trip to your home or office.
