From the Boy’s Own Annual 1897, this is an original colour plate of a superb painting by Phil Morris, A.R.A., called ‘The First Prince of Wales’. It features the baby prince, Edward II being introduced to the Welsh by his father, Edward I.
The actual image is 262 x 168mm (approx 10.4” x 6.6") and would be suitable for mounting and/or framing.
It is accompanied by a one-page article with the story behind the picture and a brief biography of Edward II.
Apart from a few minor stains in the white borders around the print, the plate and article are in excellent condition having been kept within the book for the last 111 years.
