This is a blue and white willow patterned tea set. Unfortunately the jug is missing. I bought it as part of a larger lot at auction and it was listed as 19th century, hence the dating. However there are no marks, impressed or printed on any of the pieces. The set consists of:-
6 cups + saucers
8 tea plates
2 sandwich plates
sugar bowl.
The cups in particular are very thin and are translucent when held up to the light. The blue and white transfer pattern varies in the intensity of the colour from piece to piece. There was once a double gold ring on each of the plates but this has now rubbed off or faded on most pieces. There may also have been some gold on the handles of the cups but this has also gone. The rims of the cups are also yellowing in places and one has a star shaped firing crack on the inside. However apart from this wear there is little or no damage. No cracks or chips etc. It displays beautifully.
