Magnificent 19th century, maybe older Turkish/Ottoman metal embroidered jacket. A museum quality masterpiece on maroon velvet with flying sleeves.the front and back of the jacet are covered with metal thread embroidery. The bottom hem and front of jacket have scalloped antique gold braid. the jacket is lined in the original striped cotton fabric. there are a few small holes in the lining. The sleeves are incredible, 32 inches long with metal thread wrapped buttons with a small white heart bead in the center. One sleeve has 9 buttons, the other has only 6 buttons. The sleeves are lavishly embroidered and trimmed with gold braid and gold ribbon. this is a magnificent museum piece. The jacket has an embroidered stand up collar 1 1/2 inches high, and measures approximately 34 inches around the chest. It is in good condition for its age. No rips of tears in the velvet, some of the seams may need a little repair, but the jacket is intact. It is sold AS IS. A MUSEUM MASTERPIECE.
